Raise the Roof was a large workshop project with 15 artists working in 5 villages, directed by Tony Gee and funded by Villages in Action. I was a lead artist working in Bramford Speke and Upton Pyne. The workshops culminated in a final event that took place in summer 2005 and involved a lantern procession lead by 'Monsieur La Speke' (a large woodpecker puppet), to a field between the two villages where more lanterns were lit, songs were sung, and a shadow puppet play and dance took place. It was a beautiful and inspiring event, coming from, made by and for the villages involved, focusing on the villages' connections with the global community.
