This Weekend (2009)

Commission with Bos-Arts, National Trust and AONB to create a site-specific temporary installation at St Agnes Beacon, Cornwall.

‘Movement with in-tent’, performative installation, by Wanderer (Collaborative duo with artist Jane Atkinson)

Saturday 15th August 2009 10-dusk GR: SW706506 Wanderer invited visitors to make a camp for one day only, using pop-up tents to create shapes in the landscape, looking at the idea of boundaries and taking part in the performance as it unfolded…

People of all ages, played in-tents making home-made communication devices, had in-tents discussions about St Agnes Beacon, created Beacon to Base communication system, enjoyed walks up the Beacon and relaxed at a bonfire on the Beacon at Dusk.

Many thanks to Beacon Farm Campsite for the loan of their field for this event.

On Sunday 16th August Wanderer facilitated a guided walk led by Graham Kirkham looking at the archaeology, natural and man-made history of the Beacon and surrounding area.

A concluding exhibition took place at the Poly in Falmouth, curated by Ruth Gooding, supported by UCF. This exhibition showcased documentation of ‘Movement with in-tent’ as well as the 5 other artists interventions which took place across Cornwall at consecutive weekends.
